Overview
The ROG Ally is the dominant October 2023 thread, and the sources do not agree on it. Daniel bought it at roughly $690-700 to replace a malfunctioning Razer Blade laptop and used it as a desktop with a keyboard, mouse and monitor. He praised its performance, quietness and cooler running, and said it beats the Steam Deck. Other sources record regret, a return to the laptop, short battery life, awkward ergonomics and weak portability once accessories are added, and a preference for the Switch OLED as a handheld.
Themes
ROG Ally purchase, desktop use, and comparisons with the Steam Deck, Switch OLED and gaming laptops.
Uncertainties & gaps
Whether Daniel travels with the ROG Ally alone, or returns or sells it, is unresolved.
